Michael Francis Crotty

Michael Francis Crotty (born March 26, 1970 in Mallow , Ireland ) is an Irish clergyman , Roman Catholic Archbishop and diplomat of the Holy See .

Life

Michael Francis Crotty received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Cloyne on July 3, 1994 in Cobh Cathedral from Bishop John Magee SPS .

After further studies, he obtained a degree in church history and a licentiate in canon law . On July 1, 2001, he entered the diplomatic service of the Holy See. After training at the Pontifical Diplomatic Academy , he worked at the nunciatures in Kenya , Canada , Iraq and Jordan as well as in the State Secretariat 's section for relations with the states . Most recently he was a Nunciature Councilor at the Nunciature in Spain .

On February 1, 2020 it appointed Pope Francis to the titular pro hac vice of Lindisfarna and apostolic nuncio in Burkina Faso . On April 25 of the same year Pope Francis appointed him in addition to the Apostolic Nuncio in Niger . Archbishop Paul Gallagher ordained him episcopal on August 15 of the same year in Cobh Cathedral . Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Cloyne, William Crean , and the Apostolic Nuncio to Ireland, Archbishop Jude Thaddeus Okolo .
