Michael Koplanski

Michael Koplanski (born September 25, 1934 in Naußlitz ; † February 24, 2010 in Cottbus ) was a German functionary of the GDR block party DBD and an official of several mass organizations. He was a member of the People's Chamber .

Life

Koplanski, the son of a farmer, attended elementary school , completed an agricultural apprenticeship and then worked as a farmer . In 1950 he joined the Free German Youth (FDJ) and the Democratic Peasant Party of Germany (DBD). In 1951 he became a member of the council of the Kamenz district . From 1952 to 1959 he was a district instructor of the DBD in Kamenz, then a member of the Dresden district committee and the DBD party committee. From 1955 to 1963 he was also a member of the office of the Central Council of the FDJ.

In 1957/58 Koplanski completed his studies at the institute of the Central Committee of the SED for the training of functionaries for socialist agriculture in Schwerin . In 1961 he began distance learning at the agricultural college in Cottbus and graduated in 1964 as a state-certified farmer. From 1959 to 1968 he was secretary and deputy chairman, from 1968 to 1971 chairman of the district board of DBD Cottbus . He was a member of the local district assembly from 1963 to 1971 and was a member of the district council from 1965 to 1971. From 1971 to 1976 he acted as chairman of the DBD district board in Neubrandenburg , was a member of the district assembly and deputy chairman of the permanent commission for agriculture and food.

From 1963 he was a candidate, from 1968 a member of the party executive committee of the DBD. From 1969 to 1974 he qualified for a degree in political science through distance learning at the German Academy for Political Science and Law . In 1972 he became a member of the executive committee of the DBD and from 1976 secretary of the party executive committee. In December 1989 he was elected deputy chairman of the DBD.

From 1976 to March 1990 he was a member of the Volkskammer and initially deputy chairman of the DBD parliamentary group as well as chairman of the committee for agriculture, forestry and food management. From November 1989 he was chairman of the DBD parliamentary group of the People's Chamber and a member of its executive committee.

From 1976 Koplanski was a member of the Presidium of the Friendship Society GDR - Italy, from 1981 to 1990 he was President of the Friendship Society GDR - Finland. From 1984 he was also a member of the central board of the Association of Mutual Farmers Aid .

Together with Georg Böhm and Günther Maleuda, Koplanski represented the DBD at the central round table and was one of the conveners of the working group on the New Constitution of the GDR. At the special party conference of the DBD on 27./28. January 1990 in Berlin he was voted out of all party committees, but until the merger with the CDU in September 1990 he was the main department head in the party executive of the DBD. He then worked as a full-time employee of the CDU Land Union. In February 1991 Koplanski resigned from the CDU. In 1994 he retired.
