Michael Rüdiger (Manager)

Michael Martin Rüdiger (born April 4, 1964 ) is a German manager . He works as an independent management consultant. Rüdiger has been Chairman of the Supervisory Board of BlackRock Asset Management Deutschland AG since July 2020 . Before that, he was CEO of DekaBank Deutsche Girozentrale from November 2012 to the end of 2019 .

Life

Michael Rüdiger began his professional career with a bank apprenticeship at Raiffeisenbank Kurhessen in Kassel . He then studied business administration at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen . He then completed a trainee program at Hoffmann-La Roche in Basel .

From 1991 to 1996 he worked in risk management at what was then the Schweizerische Kreditanstalt in Zurich . In 1996 he was appointed to the board of directors of Schweizerische Bankgesellschaft (Germany) in Frankfurt , now UBS . From 1998 to 2000 he was Managing Director of Allianz Asset Management . From the end of 2000 he headed Credit Suisse's business in Germany as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) , and from March 2008 he was appointed CEO of Credit Suisse in Central Europe.

From November 2012, he was appointed CEO of DekaBank Deutsche Girozentrale. Under the leadership of Rüdiger, the strategic expansion of the fund provider into a central securities house within the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe went hand in hand. He left Deka at the end of 2019.

Rüdiger currently works as a supervisory and foundation board member as well as a strategy consultant. From July 2020, Rüdiger was appointed as the successor to Friedrich Merz as Chairman of the Supervisory Board for the asset manager BlackRock in Germany. He has been on the Supervisory Board of Evonik Industries AG since 2013 , where he heads the Finance and Investment Committee. In December 2019, Rüdiger was elected to the Board of Trustees of the German Cancer Aid . He is also a member of the finance committee there. Rüdiger has been a member of the Supervisory Board of Deutsche Börse AG since May 2020 .

During his time as CEO of the Deka Group, Rüdiger was also a member of the board of the German Savings Banks and Giro Association and the Federal Association of German Public Banks . Until the end of 2019, Rüdiger was also active in the following committees, among others: Member and Chairman of the Exchange Council of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange , Member of the Exchange Council of Eurex , Member of the Exchange Expert Commission of the Federal Ministry of Finance, Member of the Presidium of the Center for Financial Studies as well as the Executive Board of Deutsches Aktieninstitut .
