Michael Wilhelm Capeller , from 1791 von Capeller , († 1797 ) was a Prussian colonel and commandant of the Silberberg fortress .

Life

Michael Wilhelm Capeller came from Darmstadt . He was initially in the Palatinate and Austrian war service for ten years before he joined the Prussian army as a sergeant , more precisely in the free battalion "Chossignon" (F 5). During the Seven Years' War he and his battalion were taken prisoner near Bautzen in 1757 . Nevertheless, in 1760 in the free battalion " Wunsch " (F 7) he had already risen to the rank of staff captain. Another change to Garrison Regiment No. VIII took place in 1763, where he was also company commander as a captain in 1766 .

During the Bavarian War of Succession he was involved in the fighting in the County of Glatz . On January 18, 1779, he fought the Austrians in Oberschwedeldorf with distinction. For this he later received the order Pour le Mérite on August 23, 1787 and was promoted to major on January 20, 1779 . The position of commander of the Silberberg Fortress took up in 1787.

Together with his cousins, the brothers Georg Capeller, lieutenant in the fusilier battalion " Forcade " No. 15 and Peter Clemens Capeller, lieutenant in the Béville depot battalion, and his legitimate son, he was raised to the Prussian nobility on April 26, 1791 .

His promotion to lieutenant colonel took place in 1790, that of colonel in 1794. He died while exercising his duties.
