Michael Wilkinson (* 1. October 1970 in Sydney , New South Wales as Michael Charles Wilkinson ) is an Australian costume . He became known for his work for the movies 300 , Watchmen - The Guardians , Terminator: The Redemption , Tron: Legacy and American Hustle .

life and work

Michael Wilkinson was born in Sydney in 1970 and received a degree in Design from the National Institute of the Dramatic Arts in his hometown of Sydney, Australia. He has been working in the film industry as a costume designer since the mid-1990s, initially as a costume designer assistant for films such as the Australian documentary Mary by Kay Pavlou or the cinema production of William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet by director Baz Luhrmann , before working for the drama True Love in 1997 and Chaos by Stavros Kazantzidis himself was active in an independent function. He has been friends with director Zack Snyder since the film 300 . Snyder and Wilkinson have worked together several times in the past. In 2007 he received the first of his four nominations for the Costume Designers Guild Awards for his work on the film Babel . He also received two other Saturn Award nominations for the films 300 and Tron: Legacy . In 2010 he won the coveted award for the cinema production Watchmen - Die Wächter . In 2014, Wilkinson received both an Oscar and a BAFTA Award nomination in the Best Costume Design category.

Michael Wilkinson is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Society (AMPAS) and the Costume Designers Guild (CDG). In 2000, Wilkinson designed the costumes for the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games in Sydney .
