resume

Michel Corajoud initially trained at the École nationale supérieure des arts décoratifs . He began his career with Bernard Rousseau, a student of Le Corbusier .

With a diploma from the French Ministry of Agriculture , he worked as a landscape architect first with Jacques Simon (1964–1966) and then with the Atelier d'urbanisme et d'architecture (AUA) ; there he formed a community with Henri Ciriani and Borja Huidobro to specialize in urban landscaping.

Michel Corajoud considered himself to be the founder of the reorientation of landscape designers, opposing the trend of older landscape designers with the statement:

“Until the 1970s, French landscape designers were trained in a department of the horticultural school, so that their knowledge of cities and their architecture was neglected. It is the idea of "nature" that mostly shaped her work on urban spaces. In contrast to this, I advocate the idea that the work of the landscape architect has to fill the gaps in the settlement areas with a kind of introductory architecture, so that the buildings and the surrounding open spaces have to be merged. "

In "9 Behavior for the Project" ( French 9 conduites pour le projet ) he formulated his approach to a landscape project.

On December 2, 2003, Michel Corajoud was awarded the Grand prix de l'urbanisme . The prize is awarded by the French Ministry of the Environment for projects that show that the landscape has a strong influence on urban development.

Corajoud died of cancer on October 29, 2014 in Paris.
