Middletown is a city on the Connecticut River in the state of Connecticut in the United States . The city has 47,648 inhabitants ( United States Census 2010 ) and is the seat of the county administration of Middlesex County . It is located 28 km south of Hartford , the capital of the state.
Middletown is the campus of Wesleyan University , as one of the most prestigious private universities is true of the United States.
Gas power plant
On February 7, 2010 , at 11:30 am local time, a severe explosion occurred at the Kleen Power Plant , a 620 MW gas-fired power plant under construction a few kilometers east of the city center, which resulted in several deaths. The explosion could be felt within a radius of about 25 km.
