Miejska Górka ( German Görchen ) is a town and seat of a municipality in Poland and is located in the Powiat Rawicki of the Greater Poland Voivodeship .
history
The first written mention of today's Miejska Górka comes from the 13th century. In 1428 the place received city rights according to Magdeburg law . During the second partition of Poland , Miejska Górka became part of Prussia in 1793 . From 1807 to 1815 the city was then part of the Duchy of Warsaw before falling back to Prussia. After the First World War , the city became part of the re-established Poland . Until then, the city was in the Rawitsch district of the Poznan province . When the German Wehrmacht attacked Poland in September 1939, the city was occupied. The occupation and affiliation to the Reichsgau Wartheland , Rawitsch district lasted until the invasion of the Red Army in 1945. Then Miejska Górka became part of Poland again.
Attractions
- The Church of Saints Nicholas and Mary Magdalene was built in 1450 or 1455. After the destruction by the Swedes in 1655, the church received a new altar. In 1787 a fire destroyed the church and it had to be rebuilt.
- The monastery was built between 1739 and 1742.
