Miha Dovžan took part in international competitions for the first time at the Junior World Championships 2012 in Kontiolahti and was 71st in sprint and 66th in individual, with the relay he finished 13th. At the Junior World Championships next year he reached a top ten placement with 10th place in the sprint. In the 2013/14 season he took part in IBU Cup races for the first time. At the European Championships of the same year he was ninth in the junior sprint race and again achieved a top ten placement with tenth place in the pursuit race. At the Junior World Championships in 2014 and 2015 , he could no longer achieve a top ten placement. His best placing was a 13th place in the pursuit race in 2014 and a 19th place in the 2015 sprint. At the beginning of the 2015/16 season he took part in a World Cup race for the first time and started the entire season in the World Cup. In his first race, the individual in Östersund , Dovžan was 47th, in the following sprint he finished 99th. At the World Championships in Oslo he was able to achieve his best ever World Cup result with a 43rd place in the individual.
In the next season he took part in the first race of the season, the single mixed relay, and finished 21st with Anja Eržen and also started the rest of the season in the World Cup. At the world championships in Hochfilzen was less successful with a 50th place in the individual than at the previous ones. At the end of this season, Dovžan won his first World Cup points with a 36th place in the sprint in Oslo. The 2017/18 season started successfully for him with three places in the top 50 in the first four races, and with a 40th place in Hochfilzen again brought him World Cup points. At the individual race in Ruhpolding , he achieved his best position so far with a 17th place in the individual and just missed qualifying for his first mass start.
At the Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang , Dovžan was 53rd in the sprint and 59th in the subsequent pursuit . In the individual , he reached the 35th rank and with the relay ranked 10th. At the World Cup final in Tyumen he reached the points again and was 65th overall. In the discipline of the individual he reached the 30th place.
