Miiko Martín Albornoz Inola (born November 30, 1990 in Stockholm ) is a Chilean - Swedish football player . The defensive player, who is under contract with Hannover 96 , has Swedish as well as Chilean citizenship and had played in various junior national teams in Sweden before making his debut in the senior national team of Chile in 2014 .

Club career

IF Brommapojkarna

Born in Stockholm as the son of a Chilean and a Finnish woman, Albornoz played in his youth at the IF Brommapojkarna from his hometown, where he also recommended himself for the youth national teams of Sweden. There he made his debut in professional football in the course of the second division season in 2008 , after he had already been part of the squad of the competition team in the previous year in the first division - but without playing. He quickly established himself as a regular player and contributed six goals in 16 games this season to the direct return to the Allsvenskan . After two seasons in the first division, in which he had played in the squad of the Swedish U-21 national team, he rose again with the team in the second division. There he initially remained loyal to the club.

Malmö FF

In the summer of 2011, the first division team Malmö FF signed Albornoz, who signed a contract valid until the end of 2015. Initially, he only made short appearances , but in the course of the 2012 season he also became a regular at his new club and ousted long-time defender Ulrich Vinzents from the starting lineup .

The year 2013 was marked by an event outside the sports field when he was charged with sex with a minor in January - he had already been in prison for three days in November of the previous year because of the incident. As a result, he agreed a break with the club. On February 12, 2013, he was given a suspended sentence. The club then extended the time-out, combined with the offer that Albornoz could participate in training operations again. At the end of April he returned to normal gaming operations. After missing the opening days, he played 26 of the 30 possible season games by the end of the season. This made him one of the key players in winning the 2013 championship title. In addition, the Swedish Supercup was won in the same year . In the following season the championship title could be defended.

Hannover 96

On June 20, 2014, it became known that Miiko Albornoz, who was participating in the World Cup at the time , was moving to the German Bundesliga club Hannover 96. Under coach Tayfun Korkut , he was in the starting line-up at the start of the season. He made his Bundesliga debut on August 23, 2014 against Schalke 04 , a week earlier he made his first competitive game for Hannover in the DFB Cup . Albornoz quickly became a regular in the left-back position and made a total of 28 Bundesliga games. He was also a regular under Michael Frontzeck . For the 2015/16 season he was able to maintain his regular place during the first half of the season. After only 14 points, Frontzeck was given a leave of absence and Thomas Schaaf was the new coach of Hannover 96. He was also dismissed after three points from ten games and replaced by Daniel Stendel , who could no longer prevent relegation. On his debut, Albornoz was no longer in the starting line-up. On October 23, 2016, he had the chance to score his first goal for 96 in the 2-0 defeat against 1. FC Nürnberg in the 2nd Bundesliga , but he missed a penalty. At the end of this season he was promoted to the Bundesliga again with Hanover. Finally, on September 15, 2018, the 3rd matchday of the 2018/19 season, he scored his first Bundesliga goal for Hanover in the 2: 3 away defeat against RB Leipzig . At the end of the season he was relegated to the second Bundesliga again with Hannover 96.

National team

Albornoz played ten games for the U-19s of Sweden . Between 2009 and 2012 he was part of the U-21 squad , for which he played eleven games. His strong performances in 2013 and 2014 also earned him an appointment for Sweden's senior team, which he turned down. Rather, in January 2014 he followed an appointment by the Chilean senior national coach Jorge Sampaoli in order to be able to take part in the 2014 World Cup finals in the summer . In his national team debut against Costa Rica on January 22, 2014, he contributed a goal to the 4-0 success. Also a regular at the beginning of the 2014 season, Albornoz was part of the 30-player provisional squad for the World Cup in Brazil in mid-May. Ultimately, he was also one of the 23 players for Brazil, but was not used by coach Jorge Sampaoli during the tournament. Albornoz was part of the 2015 Copa América squad . Chile won this title for the first time. He played two games during the tournament.
