The microregion Porangatu is located in the mid-west ( Região Central-Oeste ) of Brazil . It is a region in the Brazilian state of Goiás defined by the Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística (IBGE) for geostatistical purposes . It belongs to the geostatistical mesoregion of North Goiás and comprises 19 municipalities.
Geographical location
The Porangatu microregion borders on the microregions (mesoregions):
- In the north on Gurupis and Rio Formoso ( Ocidental do Tocantins , TO )
- To the east on Dianópolis ( Oriental do Tocantins , TO) and Chapada dos Veadeiros ( North Goiás )
- In the southeast at Entorno de Brasília ( East Goiás )
- In the south at the microregion Ceres ( Central Goiás )
- To the west at São Miguel do Araguaia ( Northwest Goiás )
