Milan Bartovič (born April 9, 1981 in Trenčín , Czechoslovakia ) is a Slovak ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Bílí Tygři Liberec in the Czech Extraliga since June 2016 .
Career
Milan Bartovič began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of HC Dukla Trenčín , where he was active until 1999. He was then selected in the NHL Entry Draft 1999 in the second round as a total of 35th player by the Buffalo Sabers , for which he however never played. Instead, he ran from 1999 to 2001 in the Canadian Junior Western Hockey League for the Tri-City Americans and Brandon Wheat Kings . From 2001 to 2005 he was in the American Hockey League for the Rochester Americans on the ice, and from 2002 to 2004 he was also used in a total of 26 games for their cooperation partner Buffalo Sabers in the National Hockey League .
In the 2005/06 season Bartovič played in parallel for the Chicago Blackhawks in the NHL and their farm team , the Norfolk Admirals in the AHL. He then returned to Europe, where he played for the Malmö Redhawks in the Swedish Elitserien and the ZSC Lions in the Swiss National League A in the following season . From 2007 to 2010 the national player was under contract with Bílí Tygři Liberec in the Czech extra league , with whom he was only eliminated in his final year in the playoff semi-finals.
For the 2010/11 season Bartovič was committed by Atlant Mytishchi from the Continental Hockey League , but returned to the Czech Republic at the end of 2010 and signed a three-year contract with the Bílí Tygři Liberec.
International
For Slovakia , Bartovič took part in the junior division of the U18 World Junior Championships in 1999 and the U20 World Junior Championships in 2000 and 2001 . In the senior sector, he was in his country's squad at the 2006 , 2009 and 2010 World Championships . At the 2010 World Cup in Germany , he was assistant captain of the senior national team for the first time.
