Miroslava "Mirka" Federer-Vavrinec ( Slovak Miroslava Vavrincová ; born April 1, 1978 in Bojnice , Czechoslovakia ) is a former Swiss tennis player of Slovak origin.

Tennis career

Miroslava «Mirka» Federer-Vavrinec came to tennis in 1987 through her father, a fan of tennis player Martina Navrátilová . At the tournament in Filderstadt , her father was able to establish contact with Navrátilová, who then organized test training for her. In 1993 she was described in the magazine Schweizer Illustrierte as "Switzerland's greatest tennis hope".

Mirka Vavrinec has not won a title in her four-year professional career. Her best position in the WTA ranking was 76th place, the best result in a Grand Slam tournament was reaching the third round at the 2001 US Open . At the Olympic Games in Sydney she was part of the Swiss tennis team alongside Emmanuelle Gagliardi . In 2002 she ended her tennis career due to a foot injury.

Personal

When she was 2 years old, her parents emigrated with her from Slovakia to Switzerland . She has been married to tennis player Roger Federer since April 11, 2009 , whom she met on the sidelines of the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. The two have been parents to twin daughters Charlene Riva and Myla Rose since July 23, 2009. Their twin sons Leo and Lennart were born on May 6, 2014.

«Mirka» has considerable influence on Roger Federer, but always remains in the background and refused personal interviews with one exception between 2002 and 2009. She is present and supports him in most of his assignments on the ATP Tour . In addition to his agent Tony Godsick, she acts as Federer's manager and organizes appointments, etc. She takes on, among other things, travel organization, contacts to sponsors , public relations , coordination of appointments and the protection of the Federer's private life. Besides Lynette, Robert and Roger Federer as well as Tony Godsick, Christoph Schmocker and Urs Wüthrich , Mirka Vavrinec-Federer is a member of the board of trustees of the “Roger Federer Foundation”.
