The Mission sui juris Funafuti ( Latin Missio sui iuris Funafutina ) is a Roman Catholic Mission sui juris based in Funafuti . It includes the Pacific island nation of Tuvalu .

history

Pope John Paul II founded the Mission sui juris Funafuti on September 10, 1982 by dividing the Diocese of Tarawa, Nauru and Funafuti and it was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Samoa-Apia as a suffragan diocese. On March 21, 2003 it became part of the ecclesiastical province of the Archdiocese of Suva .
