life and career

Mitzi Gaynor Donahue was born on May 2, 1962 in Riverside County in the southeast of the US state California. After the then 20-year-old married the singer and composer Bradley Kapture in 1982, she took his name and appeared as Mitzi Kapture from then on. Through her husband, she was also piloted to Hollywood in the late 1980s to start an acting career. So she began her career as a cowgirl in the horror comedy House II - The Unexpected in 1987. In the same year she also had an appearance in the drama Dirty Money , directed by the German Raphael Nussbaum . After starring as Debra J. in the 1988 action drama Lethal Pursuit , in which she also appeared nude, her acting career took off. In the same year, engagements followed in Angel 3 - The Search , where she again took on a leading role as ex-prostitute Molly Stewart , called Angel , who wants to break a call girl ring, and in an episode of the successful ABC series MacGyver . In 1989 she had appearances in Crime Task Force at the side of Lou Ferrigno and Miles O'Keeffe , as well as in an episode of California Bulls , before she completely disappeared from the scene in 1990 for a year. In that year she was also cast in the lead role of Sgt. Rita Lee Lance in the CBS series Palm Beach Duo , where she appeared in a total of 101 episodes from 1991 to 1995. This role contributed significantly to her international breakthrough as a series star and brought her various engagements in the years that followed. During this time she also appeared at least twice as a director of the series (3x22 and 4x19); her husband also took a guest role in an episode of the CBS series.

After Kapture left the series because of the pregnancy with their first daughter at the end of the fifth season and Rob Estes also left the series to take on a role at Melrose Place , both main actors were played by the duo Chris Potter as Sgt. Tom Ryan and Janet Gunn replaced as Sgt. Cassandra St. John , but this had a negative impact on audience ratings. The two then appeared until the eighth season, before the series was completely discontinued in 1999 due to the low audience rating. Kapture, who in the early days of the Palm Beach duo , in 1991 also in another episode of MacGyver , as well as in leading and supporting roles in the films Perry Mason and the hapless friend (1991) and Scary - Horror trip to madness (1992) took a long break from filming during her pregnancy. Only with the lead role of agent Joanne Jensen in the television film Perfect Crime did she find her way back to the screen in 1997 and was immediately cast in one of the leading roles in the ninth season of Baywatch - The Lifeguards of Malibu . Here she was seen in all 22 episodes of the ninth season as lifeguard Alex Ryker , but left the series with the change of the storyline to Hawaii , like most of the previous cast. She also played a leading role in the 1998 thriller His Bodyguard by Artie Mandelberg in the role of Jenny Farrell .

After appearances in the comedy The Storytellers by James DR Hickox and in Jennifer Peterson's award-winning short film Pumpkin Hill , Kapture took another creative break due to the pregnancy with her second daughter. In 2002 she returned to the limelight with the role of Anita Hodges in the soap opera Shadow of Passion , but was unable to build on the successes of the 1990s in the following years. In her role as the mother of Brittany Hodges (initially played by Vanessa Lee Evigan , later by Lauren Woodland ), she was seen regularly until 2004 and was also seen in at least one episode in 2005. In between, she also took on a guest role in 2003 on the series She Spies - Three Ladies Undercover , an NBC production. In the following years she made appearances in William Tannen's horror film Night of Terror (2006), as well as in Michael Worth's drama God's Ears , before she, after a guest appearance in an episode of the CBS sitcom Rules of Engagement , completely escaped Retired from acting and shifted her career to documentary creation. Mitzi Kapture published a documentary on the rare genetic disease Xeroderma pigmentosum as early as 2005 , and she also appears as the spokesperson for the Xeroderma Pigmentosum Society . In 2015, she also published a documentary titled The Process about the creative process as a director and actor, portrayed by acting teacher and trainer Larry Moss . While still active, she was involved as an actress in a pilot shot by Walter Hill for a TNT series called The Dark , which was never taken over .

In the later years she was noticed, among other things, because of botched cosmetic surgery.

Together with her husband, from whom she divorced in 2009 after 27 years of marriage, she has two daughters; Madison, born in 1996, and Emerson Kapture, born in 2002.
