Mochau (Polish: Mochów ) is a village in Upper Silesia . Mochau is located in the municipality of Oberglogau ( Głogówek ) in the powiat Prudnicki (Neustadt OS district) in the Polish Opole Voivodeship .

Mochau is three kilometers northwest of the municipality of Oberglogau , 20 kilometers east of the district town of Prudnik (Neustadt OS) and 35 kilometers south of the voivodeship capital Opole (Opole).

The Hotzenplotz flows east of the village .

history

The place was mentioned in a document in 1358 as "Mochow". The Trinity Monastery was founded in 1388. For a long time, Mochau consisted of three connected parts: Mochau-Freiherrlich, Mochau-Pauliner and Mochau-Gräflich. In 1865 Mochau-Freiherrlich had thirteen farmer, twenty gardener and eight cottager positions. The place had a mill and a Kretscham (restaurant). Mochau-Pauliner had ten gardener and seventeen cottager jobs. Mochau-Graeflich had a farmer's job and three gardeners and five cottagers, as well as a mill and a Kretscham.

In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 548 eligible voters voted to remain with Germany and 31 for Poland. Mochau remained with the German Empire . Until 1945 the place was in the district of Neustadt OS

In 1945 the previously German place came under Polish administration and was renamed Mochów and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950 the place came to the Opole Voivodeship and since 1999 it has belonged to the powiat Prudnicki . On April 22, 2009 , German was introduced as the second official language in the municipality of Oberglogau , which Mochau belongs to. On December 1, 2009, the place was also given the official German place name Mochau .
