The Berlin-Brandenburg model park is a miniature park in Berlin . On an area of ​​three hectares there are more than 80 detailed replicas of buildings from the Berlin- Brandenburg region on a scale of 1:25. It is located on the site of the former Ernst Thälmann Stadium in the Volkspark Wuhlheide .

idea

The model park is intended to "offer the public an overview of the most important buildings in the region". As a “travel guide in 3D ” , it is intended to encourage visitors to visit the original locations of the buildings in Berlin and the surrounding area.

History and goals

The employment agency center commissioned in 2000, the free carrier BUS (education, retraining Social Affairs) gGmbH to build a model Berlin-Brandenburg. The aim should be to "offer the long-term unemployed the opportunity to work meaningfully" through high-quality model making. The aim was to establish “permanent, unsubsidized jobs”. The AEG official gate in Gesundbrunnen was developed as the first model by 36 employees . Then the interior model of the Oberbaum Bridge and the Pergamon Museum were built . In 2011, around 25 people were involved in building the models in a total of five workshops in Berlin. The workers are 1 euro jobbers . In 2016 the Union Sozialereinrichtungen non-profit GmbH started to establish a working group in the field of model making as a workshop for disabled people. Here the employees are brought closer to the job description of the model maker.

Promoter

The project sponsor is the Union Sozialereinrichtungen (USE) gGmbH, a non-profit company that runs workshops for people with disabilities . Furthermore, USE gGmbH is the provider of specialist integration services as well as a recognized provider of youth welfare and training companies .

A circular path symbolizes the city limits of Berlin, outside this ring are the models of Brandenburg buildings. In the following, the models are listed separately according to the two federal states (as of April 2012).
