Monica di Sardegna

Red wines are produced under the name Monica di Sardegna DOC on the entire Italian island of Sardinia as well as on the neighboring islands of San Pietro and Sant'Antioco . The wines have had a "controlled designation of origin " ( Denominazione di origine controllata - DOC) since 1972 , which was last updated on March 7, 2014.

Cultivation

The cultivation and vinification of the wines is permitted in the entire region of Sardinia.

In 2017, 12,046 hectoliters of DOC wine were produced.

All wines must contain at least 85% of the Monica Nera grape variety . A maximum of 15% other red grape varieties that are approved for cultivation in the Sardinia region may be added.
