Carignano del Sulcis
Rosé and red wines as well as a Passito and Novello each are produced under the name Carignano del Sulcis DOC in the southwest of the Italian island of Sardinia and on the islands of San Pietro and Sant'Antioco . The wines have had a "controlled designation of origin " ( Denominazione di origine controllata - DOC) since 1977 , which was last updated on March 7, 2014.
Cultivation
The cultivation and vinification of wines is permitted in the Sulcis area and in the following municipalities: In the provinces of Carbonia-Iglesias and Cagliari : Calasetta , Carbonia , Carloforte , Giba , Masainas , Narcao , Nuxis , Perdaxius , Piscinas , Portoscuso , San Giovanni Suergiu , Santadi , Sant'Anna Arresi , Sant'Antioco , Teulada , Tratalias and Villaperuccio .
In 2017, 18,040 hectoliters of DOC wine were produced.

The following types of wine may be produced within this denomination:
- Carignano del Sulcis Rosso (also called "Riserva" and "Superiore")
- Carignano del Sulcis Rosato
- Carignano del Sulcis Moscato
- Carignano del Sulcis Novello
- Carignano del Sulcis Passito
All wines must contain at least 85% of the Carignano grape variety . A maximum of 15% other red grape varieties that are approved for cultivation in the Sardinia region may be added.
