Called Sardegna DOC Semidano are white wines , sparkling wines and a raisin on the Italian island of Sardinia generated. The wines have had a "controlled designation of origin " (Denominazione di origine controllata - DOC ) since 1995 , which was last updated on March 7, 2014.

Cultivation

The wines can be produced anywhere on the island. There is also a sub-zone (sottozona) called "Mogoro". If the Sardegna Semidano comes from the eponymous municipality of Mogoro or the municipalities of Baressa , Gonnoscodina , Gonnostramatza , Masullas , Pompu , Simala , Siris and Urasin in the province of Oristano or from the three municipalities of Collinas , Sardara and Villanovaforru in the province of Cagliari , south of Oristano the name "Mogoro" can be found on the label. This is a sub-zone that represents the core area of ​​the cultivation of the Semidano vine.

These wines are made from the Semidano grape variety in several types:

  • Sardegna Semidano : The standard quality is occasionally dry, but mostly sweet wines. Since the founding of the DOC , however, considerable quality improvements have been achieved in the cultivation of the Semidano. Among other things, the vine training methods were refined.
  • Sardegna Semidano Mogoro : A soft, tasty, fresh wine
  • Sardegna Semidano Superiore : A standard version with an alcohol content of over 13% by volume.
  • Sardegna Semidano Passito : The sweet Passito is a dessert wine with 14-15% alcohol by volume
  • Sardegna Semidano Spumante : A sparkling wine of the quality Spumante is also offered in the variants Secco (dry), Amabile (sweet) and Dolce (sweet).
