Moscato di Sardegna DOC is the name for sweet white wines and sparkling wines that are produced on the Italian island of Sardinia . The wines have enjoyed the status of a "controlled designation of origin " ( Denominazione di origine controllata - DOC) since December 13, 1979 , which was last updated on March 7, 2014.

Cultivation

The cultivation and production zone covers the entire island of Sardinia as well as the neighboring islands of San Pietro and Sant'Antioco . The wine is mainly produced in the north in Gallura . Therefore, the sub-zones "Gallura", "Tempio" or " Tempio Pausania " may be mentioned on the label for further specification . This additional information is only permitted for the “Moscato di Sardegna Spumante”.

generation

In the denomination, mainly sparkling wines of the Spumante quality and, to a lesser extent, still wines are produced. All wines are made from Moscato Bianco (90–100%) as well as other white varieties (up to 10%) permitted in the Sardinia region. A “ passito ” is also generated.
