The province Carbonia-Iglesias (Italian Provincia di Carbonia-Iglesias ) was an Italian province of the Sardinia region . Capital cities were Carbonia and Iglesias . It last had 127,133 inhabitants (as of November 30, 2015) in 23 municipalities on an area of 1,741 km².
The province was established by law in 2001. In May 2005, the provincial head and the provincial council were elected and the province thus de facto founded.
The 23 municipalities were spun off from the province of Cagliari . With the reorganization of the Sardinian local authorities in 2016, Carbonia-Iglesias became part of the newly created province of Sud Sardegna .
