Monika Bohinec

Monika Bohinec (* 1979 ) is a Slovenian opera singer with a mezzo-soprano voice and a member of the ensemble of the Vienna State Opera .

Life

Bohinec studied singing at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna .

She made her operatic debut in 2006 as Clarissa in Prokofiev's Love for the Three Oranges at the Slovenian State Opera . She regularly returns to the first house in her home country, as Carmen , as Konchkowna in Prince Igor or as Suzuki in Madama Butterfly . From 2009 to 2011 she was a member of the ensemble of the Nationaltheater Mannheim , where she could be seen and heard as Carmen, Suzuki, Giulietta in Les Contes d'Hoffmann and Ulrica in Un ballo in maschera . Bohinec has been a member of the Vienna State Opera ensemble since 2011 , where she has so far sang - in addition to Suzuki, Ulrica and smaller roles - also Lola in Cavalleria rusticana , Emilia in Otello , Marcellina in Le nozze di Figaro and Die Fremde Fürstin in Rusalka . The artist achieved a great personal success in October 2014 in the Haus am Ring at the side of Edita Gruberová as Sara in Gaetano Donizetti's Roberto Devereux . Her repertoire also includes the Dalila in Samson et Dalila and the Marina in Boris Godunow .

In 2012 she made her debut as the Third Lady of the Queen of the Night in the Magic Flute continuation Das Labyrinth or The Battle with the Elements by Emanuel Schikaneder and Peter von Winter at the Salzburg Festival . The production by Alexandra Liedtke was shown in the Residenzhof . In the following year she took over the role of Magdalene in Stefan Herheim's production of the Meistersinger von Nürnberg at the Salzburg Festival, but now at the Großer Festspielhaus . Further guest appearances have taken her as Suzuki to Maribor, as Principessa di Bouillon (in Adriana Lecouvreur ) to Rijeka and as Czipra (in the Gypsy Baron ) at the Mörbisch Sea Festival . In autumn 2012 she went on a European tour (including CD production) as Marta in Iolanta alongside Anna Netrebko . In June 2014 Bohinec made his debut as Amneris in a premiere production of Aida at the Munich Theater am Gärtnerplatz .

In Vienna Konzerthaus Bohinec was with the alto solo in Beethoven's Ninth under Philippe Jordan to hear. In January 2014 she introduced herself as a lieder singer in the Vienna Musikverein . She has also performed in concerts in Slovenia, Croatia, Italy, Germany, Greece, England and Russia.
