Montrigaud is a village and a former French community with 497 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Drôme in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belonged to the arrondissement of Valence and the canton of Drôme des collines (until 2015: canton of Le Grand-Serre ).

With effect from January 1, 2019, the former municipalities of Montrigaud , Miribel and Saint-Bonnet-de-Valclérieux were merged to form Commune nouvelle Valherbasse , where they have the status of a Commune déléguée . The administrative seat is in Montrigaud.

geography

Montrigaud is located about 63 kilometers east-southeast of Saint-Étienne between the Herbasse , Galaure and Limone rivers . Montrigaud is surrounded by the suburbs Le Grand-Serre in the north and north-west, Saint-Clair-sur-Galaure in the north, Montfalcon in the north and north-east, Roybon in the east, Saint-Antoine-l'Abbaye in the south-east, and Saint-Bonnet-de -Valclérieux in the south, Miribel in the southwest and Saint-Christophe-et-le-Laris in the west.
