Moriz Benedikt (also Moritz Benedikt ; born July 4, 1835 in Eisenstadt , † April 14, 1920 in Vienna ) was an Austrian neurologist of Jewish descent. He was a professor of neurology at the University of Vienna . Benedikt worked as a physicist with the Austrian military during the Second Italian War of Independence (1859) and the Austro-Prussian War .

Benedikt was a specialist in the field of electrotherapy and neuropathology , and Benedict syndrome was named after him.

He also used the divining rod to research the “ pathogenic places” postulated by him, which paved the way for the radiesthesia described by Gustav Freiherr von Pohl .
