Morris Trachsler (born July 15, 1984 in Zurich ) is a former Swiss ice hockey player . In 2013 he became vice world champion and in 2014 with the ZSC Lions Swiss champion.

Career

Morris Trachsler began his career as an ice hockey player in the youth department of SC Rapperswil-Jona . Since 2001 he plays with the ZSC Lions , he for 2003-2005 in the National League A was active after it first for their farm team GCK Lions in the National League B had played. With the ZSC Lions he could not finally prevail, so that he switched to their league rivals Genève-Servette HC for the 2005/06 season. There he earned a regular place in their NLA team and became a national team player as a player from Geneva. Trachsler graduated from high school and is studying psychology at the University of Geneva . In December 2011 he signed a three-year contract with the ZSC Lions, with whom he became Swiss Champion in 2014, valid from the 2012/13 season . Even after this first contract has expired, he continues to play for the Zurich team in the NLA. After the Lions' disappointing performance in the 2016/17 season with the quarter-final defeat against HC Lugano , Trachsler did not receive a new contract with Zurich. During the break of the season he signed a two-year contract with EHC Kloten , but left the club after relegation to the second division in April 2018. At the beginning of November 2018, he announced his retirement from competitive sports.

International

For Switzerland , Trachsler took part in the U20 Junior World Championship in 2004 , as well as the World Championships in 2010 , 2011 and 2012 .

At the 2013 World Cup in Stockholm and Helsinki he was again part of the national team and won the silver medal with it. He then played at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi and the 2015 World Cup for the Swiss. He played a total of 104 full internationals.
