geography

course

The Morsbach arises at about 477  m above sea level. NHN approx. 0.9 km northwest of Morsbach in the lower part of the Obermorsbach valley , which can be traced a few kilometers further up the mountain as a dry valley. The stream first flows southeast towards Morsbach and passes a pond on the left bank, which is at the inlet of a short dry valley from Großnottersdorf . The similarly long Esselbergbach flows into Morsbach with an equally long dry Obertal from the northeast. The valley and stream turn there on a winding south-south-east course. Finally the Morsbach runs through Emsing , crosses under the state road St 2336 in the river valley and then flows from the left to about 419  m above sea level. NHN to the lower anlauter .

The Morsbach flows after a 5.2 km long run with a mean bottom gradient of around 11 ‰ about 58 meters below its origin.

Catchment area

The brook drains an area of 30.8 km², which naturally belongs to the sub-area Anlauteralb of the Southern Franconian Alb. From his with about 588  m above sea level. NHN highest point on the northwest tip near the Thalmässing-Waizenhofen airfield to the mouth, it stretches the longest with almost 9.5 km, and across it it is almost 6 km wide. Because the subsoil is heavily karstified , there are only the two mentioned, relatively short open watercourses, but some dry upper valleys and hollows. On the plateau there is little island-like forest, in the open land there is predominantly arable farming, while on the slopes of the deeper valley incisions there is mostly forest and grassland predominates in the narrow valley floors.

The watercourses and most of the catchment area lie in the area of the market town of Titting , but in the north the market town of Thalmässing and in the east the town of Greding , both of which belong to the Central Franconian district of Roth , have large shares in it.
