The Cöthener FC Germania 03 (short: CFC Germania ) is a German football club from Koethen (Anhalt) in the district of Anhalt-Bitterfeld . Home of the club is the Rüsternbreite stadium , which can seat 7,000 spectators.
society
CFC Germania 03 was founded in 1903 in Cöthen (from 1927 Köthen). The club played in the Anhalt Gau until 1945 within the championship of the Association of Central German Ball Game Clubs , but was unable to qualify for the Gauliga Mitte championships held from 1933 onwards .
In 1945 the SG Köthen-Süd was founded instead of the dissolved CFC . In 1949, the SG was restructured into a company sports association , which was renamed KWU Koethen , Vorwärts Koethen , Stahl Koethen and Union Koethen in quick succession . On a sporting level, both SG and BSG took part in the soccer championships in Saxony-Anhalt ( SBZ / GDR ) from 1947 to 1952 . With the formation of the GDR districts , the company sports association, renamed Motor Köthen , became a founding member of the third-rate Halle district league in 1952 . Motor Köthen was relegated from the district league in the first season. With the return in the 1955 season, Koethen was able to establish itself with secured midfield positions in the district league. In 1962, Motor Köthen won the Halle district championship ahead of Chemie Leuna and was promoted to the 2nd GDR league .
The second GDR league finished Koethen in fourth place, but was downgraded again to the Halle district league due to the ordered dissolution of the second GDR league. The district league was initially held until 1972, with the BSG failed due to the possible rise to the GDR league at Chemie Wolfen or Chemie Buna Schkopau . In the period that followed, Köthen climbed up and down several times in the style of an elevator team until 1990 . BSG Motor closed the GDR football operation in 1990 with 10th place in the Halle district league. In 1990 the BSG was converted into the KSV Germania 90 club, which was renamed again in 1995 to Cöthener FC Germania 03 . After a brief integration as a football department in HG 85 Köthen , CFC Germania 03 was re-established on February 1, 2002. The current division is the Landesliga Süd Sachsen-Anhalt.
