The municipality of El Puente is a district in the Santa Cruz department in the lowlands of the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

The Municipio El Puente is one of three Municipios in the Guarayos Province . It borders on the Beni Department in the north, the Ichilo Province in the northwest, the Obispo Santistevan Province in the southwest, the Ñuflo de Chávez Province in the south and east , and the Ascención de Guarayos Province in the northeast .

The municipality extends between about 15 ° 52 'and 16 ° 31' south latitude and 62 ° 38 'and 64 ° 47' west longitude, its expansion from west to east is up to 200 kilometers and from north to south up to 70 kilometers .

The municipality comprises 109 municipalities ( localidades ), the central place of the municipality is the rural town of El Puente with 2,379 inhabitants ( 2012 ) in the eastern part of the municipality.

The municipality of El Puente is located in the Moxos plain ( Spanish : Llanos de Moxos), a more than 100,000 km² flood savannah in the northern lowlands of Bolivia. The region's climate is a semi-humid climate of the warm tropics .

The life expectancy of newborns was 60.4 years, and infant mortality had fallen from 8.8 percent (1992) to 7.8 percent in 2001.
