The Municipio Postrer Valle (also: Postrervalle ) is a district in the Santa Cruz Department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

The Municipio Postrer Valle is one of five Municipios of the Province of Vallegrande and includes the eastern areas of the province. It is bordered to the northeast by the province of Florida , to the west and south by the Municipio Vallegrande , and to the east by the Cordillera province .

The municipality extends between about 18 ° 26 'and 18 ° 51' south latitude and 63 ° 32 'and 63 ° 59' west longitude, its expansion from west to east is up to 35 km and from north to south up to 40 km . It covers the entire length of the valley of the Río Vilcas with its headwaters and tributaries to the confluence with the Río Masicurí , which in turn flows into the Río Grande . The municipality is embedded between north-south running mountain ridges that reach heights of 2,400 m in the north and only up to 1,800 m in the southern part of the municipality.

The municipality comprises 24 municipalities ( localidades ), the central place of the municipality is the town of Postrervalle with 1,141 inhabitants ( 2012 census ) in the central northern part of the district.

The Municipio Postrer Valle is located in the transition area between the Andes mountain range of the Cordillera Oriental in the north and the Cordillera Central in the southwest, and the Bolivian lowlands in the east. The climate in the protected valleys in the northern part of the district is temperate and balanced all year round, while in the southern part it is mild and more humid.

The mean average temperature in the northern part of the district is almost 19 ° C (see climate diagram Postrervalle) and fluctuates only slightly between almost 16 ° C in July and almost 21 ° C from November to January. The annual precipitation is about 750 mm, with a dry season from May to September with monthly precipitation below 30 mm, and a wet season from December to February with 115 to 135 mm monthly precipitation.

The population density of the district in the last census of 2012 was 2.1 inhabitants / km², the literacy rate among those over 15 years of age had risen from 75.1 percent (1992) to 81.8 percent. The life expectancy of the newborns was 61.5 years, the infant mortality had increased from 5.9 percent (1992) to 7.3 percent in 2001.

99.3 percent of the population speak Spanish , 1.6 percent speak Quechua , and 0.3 percent speak Aymara . (2001)

79.5 percent of the population have no access to electricity , 88.6 percent live without sanitary facilities (2001) .
