The Municipio Villazón is a district in the Department of Potosí in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

The municipality of Villazón is the only municipality in the province of Modesto Omiste . It lies between 21 ° 39 'and 22 ° 06' south latitude and between 65 ° 10 'and 66 ° 08' west longitude . It borders the province of Sur Chichas to the north, the Tarija department to the east , and the Republic of Argentina to the south and southwest . The municipality extends over about 120 kilometers in an east-west direction and 65 kilometers in a north-south direction. The capital of the municipality is Villazón with 28,045 inhabitants.

Villazón is located in the southern part of the barren plateau of the Bolivian Altiplano .
