Musical! The show was a talent show of the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation , whose aim is, the Austrian musical star to find by audience voting. The final took place on January 11, 2008, and Vincent Bueno emerged as the winner.

broadcast

The casting for the broadcast began in September 2007. Many interested parties registered for an audition. The judges selected the best 10 through preliminary rounds.

According to ORF, the winner should have appeared in the Viennese production of the Queen musical We Will Rock You , but an agreement between ORF and the organizers BB promotion and Vereinigte Bühnen Wien did not come about at short notice. Instead, the ORF announced that it would pay the winner 50,000 euros in prize money. The winner should use this money to finance his or her further individual training.

In the program, the candidates have to prove their skills in the field of musicals by performing excerpts from certain musicals per show. The songs are assigned to the participants by ORF and cannot be selected by yourself.

The jury of experts who commented on the performance immediately afterwards consisted of the entertainer Alexander Goebel and the artist agent Doris Fuhrmann . They had a different guest star at their side in every episode: 23.11. Thomas Borchert , November 30th Marika Lichter , December 7th. Maya Hakvoort , December 14th. Caroline Vasicek , December 21. Andreas Bieber , December 28th Yngve Gasoy Romdal , 4. 1. Nina Proll , 11.1. (Finale) Sylvester Levay . The musical singer Uwe Kröger was originally intended to be the guest judge for the final show , but he was removed from ORF due to criticism of the program and replaced by the musical composer Sylvester Levay, who wrote the musicals Mozart! , Elisabeth and Rebecca come from.

After the audience voted for a fee by phone call and SMS, the last two candidates had another chance to convince the audience with a self-chosen joker song. Televoting, which was limited to 60 seconds, was again used to determine which of the two was allowed to advance to the next round.

From April 2008 ZDF broadcast the program Musical Showstar 2008 , hosted by Thomas Gottschalk .
