The 2019/20 season is the third edition of the MySports League , the third division in Swiss ice hockey.
New are the SC Lyss and the EHC Arosa (both promoted from the 1st division). They replace HC Sierre (promotion to the SL ) and Star Forward (relegation to the 1st division). The season includes 32 qualifying rounds.
Championship cancellation
On March 11, 2020, the canton of Ticino declared a state of emergency due to the coronavirus epidemic . As a consequence, all ice rinks in the canton of Ticino were closed. As championship operation was no longer possible under these circumstances, the association decided, after consulting the clubs, to end the championship in all leagues and levels. This also affected the MySports League in which the final series between HCV Martigny and EHC Basel could not be played. Since the clubs of the two top leagues have determined that as a result of the championship cancellation, there should be no promotions and relegations in the National and Swiss League, neither Martigny nor Basel could advance. At a video conference on March 21, it was determined that there are no promotions at the green table. Since the championship in the 1st division could not be completed either, there was no promoted player from the 1st division. The sporting descent of HC Düdingen was therefore reversed.
mode
The 12 teams played two double rounds of 22 games each. In addition, there were 10 additional encounters per team against 5 opponents, which were determined on the basis of a regional division (east, west). In total, each team played 32 qualifying games. Then the best eight teams should determine the amateur Swiss champions in playoff style. All playoff series should be played according to the best-of-five mode.
After qualification, the teams played in places nine to twelve in a simple round-trip for relegation. The points from the qualification were taken. The last ranked team in the play-outs should be relegated directly to the first division.
