NGC 2395 is a galactic open star cluster in the constellation Gemini on the ecliptic .
It has an angular diameter of 15 arc minutes and a brightness of 8.0 mag. The cluster is about 1,700 light years from the solar system , is about 6 light years in diameter and contains about 20 stars . Its age is estimated to be 1.5 billion years.
The planetary nebula Abell 21, also known as the Medusa nebula , is located in its optical proximity .
The object was discovered on March 16, 1784 by William Herschel .
