NGC 2389 is a bar-spiral galaxy with extensive star formation areas of the Hubble type SBc in the constellation Gemini on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 176 million light years from the Milky Way and about 105,000 ly in diameter.
It is likely gravitationally tied to NGC 2388 . In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 2379 , NGC 2385 , NGC 2386 , NGC 2393 .
The object was discovered on February 5, 1788 by the astronomer William Herschel .
