NGC 6684 is a lenticular galaxy in the constellation Peacock . It is estimated to be 35 million light years from the Milky Way .
The galaxy was discovered on June 8, 1836 by the astronomer John Herschel with his 18.7-inch telescope and later included in his New General Catalog by Johan Dreyer .
