NGC 6679 = IC 4763 is a compact galaxy of Hubble type C in the constellation Dragon at the northern sky , an estimated 312 million light-years from the Milky Way 's center.
The object was discovered on October 25, 1885 by the American astronomer Lewis A. Swift .
