List of radio stations

NRJ is a private radio broadcaster in France . The station first went on air in the French capital Paris in June 1981 . NRJ, founded by Jean-Paul Baudecroux and Max Guazzini, is now part of the NRJ Group , the largest radio company in the world.

history

Jean Paul Baudecroux and Max Guazzini founded his radio studio in June 1981 after the election of the French President François Mitterrand , who liberalized the French radio market, in the room of a maid in the 20th arrondissement of Paris. He called his radio station NRJ , which is the abbreviation of the French name Nouvelle Radio Jeunesse , which translates as “New Youth Radio ”. The correct pronunciation of the acronym "en-er-schi" results in the French word énergie /e.nɛʁ.ʒi/ ( German  energy ) (outside of the French-speaking area, the company adds the English name ENERGY [ ˈɛnɜɹdʒi ] to its logo ). With the founding of the French station Chérie FM in 1987 and the entry into other countries (from 1988 first in Switzerland and Belgium , later stations followed in Germany , Sweden and Austria, among others ), the French youth radio increasingly became an international media group, which has now also become a television station (NRJ tv, NRJ 12) operates in France.

Regional and local programs

The program design differs in part regionally or locally. As a rule, the division of the program during the week is limited to the moderation bars between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. However, there are exceptions to this. In Lyon, for example, the moderation starts at 9:00 a.m., as is the case with NRJ Léman in Geneva . In Saint Tropez , with the exception of a few programs across France such as Manu dans le 6/9 or the NRJ Euro Hot 30 , broadcasts are largely independent. Some of the news is also produced on site.

Events

The concert series NRJ Music Tour will be presented in France and at other NRJ stations around the world (e.g. in Germany and Lebanon) using the title and logo together .

The prestigious NRJ Music Awards , which have been held annually in Cannes since 1999 and above all attract attention with their international star line-up, similar to the MTV Europe Music Awards , are also considered a showcase . The NRJ Music Awards are broadcast annually on French television by the market leader TF1 , reaching over six million viewers.

Internet radio station

The NRJ Group currently operates 150 web radio channels in France under the umbrella brand NRJ. These are dedicated to special genres (e.g. pop , rock , lounge ), lifestyles and moods (e.g. romantic, tropical, sexy, fitness, gay), cities (e.g. New York , Miami , Ibiza ), Countries and continents (e.g. Brazil , Spain , Africa ), famous music artists (e.g. Michael Jackson , Madonna , Britney Spears , Black Eyed Peas ), events (e.g. NRJ Music Awards ), NRJ broadcasts ( e.g. Manu Le 6-9 , NRJ Euro Hot 30 ) or are operated in cooperation with partners such as Disney or iTunes .

meaning

In France, NRJ stands for a large media group that is not only a radio station, but also a mobile operator (NRJ Mobile) and a television broadcaster (NRJ 12, NRJ tv). The media group is particularly popular with young people in France, especially because of the moderators Emanuel Lévy, Sebastien Cauet and Guillaume Pley, who are very well known and loved there and are considered very funny. In addition, NRJ also repeatedly shows local presence across the country with numerous events, such as B. the NRJ Music Tour, where well-known stars perform in the respective city, DJs mix and the moderators create the atmosphere. In addition, the NRJ DJ Awards are given annually in Monaco , at which the largest and most famous DJs in the world perform and for which other European NRJ stations also give out tickets. The highlight of the year are the NRJ Music Awards , which are presented every year in Cannes in the south of France, at which major French and international stars appear and are also broadcast live by the French television market leader TF1 . The NRJ Music Awards are comparable to the MTV Music Awards from America.
