The NSU 14/40 PS was an upper middle class passenger car that Neckarsulmer Fahrzeugwerke Aktiengesellschaft built from 1921 to 1925. It was the successor to the 13/35 hp model

The water-cooled engine was a four-cylinder block engine with a displacement of 3606 cm³ (bore × stroke = 94 × 130 mm), which made 54 hp (40 kW) at 2000 / min. As with its predecessor, the engine had a triple-bearing crankshaft, but in contrast to this one only had a battery ignition , as well as pressure circulation lubrication and side-mounted valves in an L-cylinder head. The flat cooler of the previous model had given way to a fashionable pointed cooler. The fuel tank was in the back. The fuel was conveyed through the exhaust gases, with part of the exhaust gases being led into the tightly closed tank, creating a slight overpressure there and thus ensuring that the fuel flowed forward to the carburetor. The engine power was transmitted to the rear wheels via a multi-disc clutch in an oil bath, a four-speed gearbox with a link shift on the right and a cardan shaft . The wheelbase of the cars was unchanged at 3200 mm, their track width was 1375 mm and the weight for the six-seater sedan had increased to 1725 kg. The top speed was around 100 km / h.

The price for a six-seater Phaeton version was RM 13,000 (including luxury tax). In 1925 this model ran out without a successor.
