The NSU-Pipe 34 HP and the NSU-Pipe 50 HP were upper middle class cars , which Neckarsulmer Fahrradwerke Aktiengesellschaft built in 1905 and 1906 under license from the Belgian automobile manufacturer Pipe . These models were the first automobiles manufactured by NSU.
The water-cooled engine of the weaker version was a four-cylinder block engine with a displacement of 3768 cm³ (bore × stroke = 100 × 120 mm), which made 34 hp (25 kW). The more powerful version had a similar engine with a displacement of 8290 cm³ (bore × stroke = 135 × 145 mm), which made 50 hp (37 kW). Both engines had double ignition ( magnet and battery ), automatic central lubrication and overhead valves . The engine power was transmitted to the rear wheels via a leather cone clutch, a four-speed gearbox with a right-hand gate shift and a chain . The wheelbase of the cars was 3000–3200 mm, their track width 1450 mm. The top speed was around 85 km / h.
The cars were manufactured as a double phaeton , roi-des-belges , landaulet or limousine . In 1906 the 15/24 hp replaced both models.
