Naci Ünüvar (born June 13, 2003 in Zaandam ) is a Dutch football player with Turkish roots who has been under contract with Ajax Amsterdam since the beginning of his professional career . He is also a young Dutch national player who also has a Turkish passport.

Naci Ünüvar, the son of Turkish parents, was born in 2003 in Zaandam, North Holland . He was discovered by Ajax Amsterdam in 2011 at the nearby OFC Zaandam, Oostzaanse Football Club . Then Ünüvar was accepted into the youth department of the Amsterdam team and he shone with his footballing achievements. Thus Ünüvar quickly rose to the next higher football grades. He impressed with his footballing qualities in various international youth football tournaments. Among other things, in December 2017 at the U15 indoor football tournament MTU Cup in Friedrichshafen , Ünüvar scored 26 goals in twelve games at the age of 14, three of which were in the final to win the tournament. In the 2018/19 season he celebrated his UEFA club competition game and goal premiere in September 2018 and temporarily became the youngest scorer in the UEFA Youth League at the age of 15 . Furthermore, at the age of 16, Ünüvar caused a sensation in August 2019 at the opening game of the Estadi Johan Cruyff football stadium in Barcelona . The opening game was played between the U19 youth teams of FC Barcelona and Ajax Amsterdam and the game ended with a 2-0 win for the Ajax U19 and both goals scored by Ünüvar. Because of his achievements, he was spied on by up to 80 talent scouts in the UEFA Youth League in September 2019 . Ünüvar was considered one of the greatest talents of the future at Ajax Amsterdam in 2019.

Professional career

After the successful U17 European Championship final in 2019 , Ünüvar signed his first professional football contract with Ajax Amsterdam in May 2019 at the age of 15. On December 13, 2019, at the age of 16, he made his league professional debut with the second team of Ajax ( Jong Ajax ) in the Eerste Divisie , the second highest Dutch league division, when he was substituted on in the second division against the Frisians from SC Cambuur . A week later, Ünüvar celebrated his league professional debut, also in the second team, by scoring the goal against TOP Oss as a joker to make it 2-0.

In January 2020 celebrated Ünüvar his debut at the age of 16 years, seven months and nine days for the first A-professional team of Ajax he as Joker shone in by back knockout round of the Dutch Cup against third division side SV Spakenburg, where he earned a penalty awarded was and turned it himself to the 7-0 final score. With his commitment and goal scored, Ünüvar became the third youngest competitive debut and the youngest goal scorer in the history of the club.

National team

Ünüvar has been through the Dutch youth national teams from U15 to U18 . He started his national team career with the U15 juniors in December 2017 with two appearances.

With the Dutch U17 juniors, he took part in the elite round, last qualifying round, for the U17 European Championship 2019 in March 2019 and qualified convincingly and successfully as group winners for the final tournament. Ünüvar predicted in advance of taking part in the finals that they would win the U17 European championship, due to the quality and harmonious team. At the age of 15, he took part in the final tournament of the 2019 U17 European Championship in Ireland with the U17 juniors in May 2019 . In the tournament, Ünüvar acted as a starting eleven and substitute , playing five of a possible six games. Furthermore, he helped in the final as a joker with his intermittent 4: 1 goal to win the title, which ended 4: 2. As a final scorer at the age of 15, Ünüvar became the youngest final scorer of a U17 European Championship . Due to the successful performance at the U17 European Championship, he qualified with the U17 Juniors for the U17 World Championship 2019 in Brazil and reached the semi-finals in this tournament in November 2019 and only missed the final on penalties against the U17 Juniors Mexico . He played all possible games for his team in the tournament.
