Nadine Fähndrich (born October 16, 1995 ) is a Swiss cross-country skier .

Career

Fähndrich, who competes for the Horw Ski Club, took part in U18 and U20 races in the Alpine Cup from 2010 to 2015 . She took second place in the 2013/14 season and eighth place in the U20 overall ranking in 2014/15 . At the 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck , she came in tenth place over 5 km classic, seventh place in the sprint and fourth place in the mixed relay. In January 2014 she became Swiss champion over 5 km and second in the pursuit. In the following year, she finished second in the pursuit and third in the team sprint and over 5 km. She ran her first World Cup race in December 2015 in Davos , which she finished in 22nd place in the sprint and thus also got her first World Cup points. This was followed by three starts in World Cup sprints. She got World Cup points in all races. In the second half of the season, she started in the Alpine Cup. In doing so, she won two races and came in second once and thus reached ninth place in the overall ranking of the Alpine Cup. At the U23 World Ski Championships in 2016 in Râșnov , she won the silver medal in the sprint. In March 2016, she became the Swiss sprint champion.

After finishing 47th in the World Cup mini-tour in Lillehammer at the beginning of the 2016/17 season, Fähndrich took third place in the sprint at the Alpine Cup in Goms. At the highlight of the season, the Nordic World Ski Championships 2017 in Lahti , she took 25th place over 10 km classic and sprint and seventh place with the relay and together with Laurien van der Graaff in the team sprint. At the end of the season she came in 30th place in the World Cup finals in Québec and reached 35th place in the overall World Cup, 21st place in the Sprint World Cup and third place in the U23 World Cup. At the Swiss Championships 2017 in Val Müstair , she was champion in the sprint and second in the classic 30 km. At the beginning of the 2017/18 season, she finished 53rd in the Ruka Triple and 19th in the Tour de Ski 2017/18 . At the U23 World Ski Championships in Goms in 2018 , she won the bronze medal over 10 km classic and the silver medal in the sprint. Her best results at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang were 20th place in the sprint and fourth place together with Laurien van der Graaff in the team sprint. At the end of the season she achieved 28th place at the World Cup finals in Falun and finally reached 27th place in the overall World Cup. In March 2018 she became the Swiss sprint champion.

In the 2018/19 season, Fähndrich finished 45th in the Lillehammer Triple and 26th in the World Cup finals in Québec. In addition, she finished in the top ten five times in the individual World Cup and achieved her first podium finish in the classic world cup with second place over 10 km in Cogne . Her best result at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2019 in Seefeld in Tirol was fifth place over 10 km classic. She finished the season in 19th place in the overall World Cup and in tenth place in the Sprint World Cup. At the Swiss Championships 2019 in Engelberg , she won the silver medal in the pursuit and the gold medal in the sprint, over 5 km freestyle, in the 30 km mass start race and in the team sprint. After finishing 24th in the Ruka Triple at the beginning of the 2019/20 season, she and Laurien van der Graaff finished third in Planica and second in the team sprint in Dresden . In the ski tour, which she finished in 20th place, she achieved third place in the sprint in Trondheim . At the end of the season she came in second place in the sprint in Drammen and finished 20th in the overall World Cup and seventh in the Sprint World Cup.
