Nate Radley

Nate Radley (born August 31, 1975 in Concord , New Hampshire ) is an American jazz guitarist (also banjo , electronics), composer and music teacher .

Live and act

Nate Radley studied sociology at the University of Chicago in the late 1990s and also played in Mwata Bowden's X-Tet. He continued his studies at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, where he played jazz guitar and composition a. a. studied with John Abercrombie , Bob Brookmeyer , Jerry Bergonzi and George Russell and earned his Masters. Since 2004 he has been working in the New York jazz scene, a. a. with Alan Ferber , Marc Mommaas , Jon Gordon , Akiko Pavolka , Andrew Rathbun , David Smith , Tony Moreno and in the Maria Schneider Jazz Orchestra. He also belongs to the band Bad Touch with Loren Stillman , Ted Poor and Gary Versace , with whom several albums were created. Under his own name he released the album Big Eyes at Fresh Sound / New Talent in early 2012 , with Loren Stillman (saxophone), Pete Rende (Fender Rhodes), Matt Pavolka (bass) and Ted Poor (drums).

Radley participated in 27 recording sessions from 1998 to 2010, in addition to the aforementioned with James Falzone ( The Already & The Not Yet, 2000), David Smith and Matthias Lupri . Radley teaches jazz guitar, music theory and ensemble playing at the Center for Preparatory studies in Music at Queens College, City University of New York and the Bloomingdale School of Music. The Brooklyn-based guitarist is married to jazz pianist Kris Davis .
