National Board of Review Award : Best Directing Debut

Winner of the National Board of Review Awards in the category Best directing debut ( Outstanding Directorial Debut ). The category is awarded separately from that for the best director .

Of the directors, who have won awards since 1997, only the Americans Rob Marshall ( Chicago ) and Benh Zeitlin ( Beasts of the Southern Wild ) were able to win an Oscar nomination.
