The Alter Main nature reserve near Bergrheinfeld and Grafenrheinfeld is a nature reserve on an oxbow lake in the Schweinfurt district . The protected area is directly adjacent to the site of the Grafenrheinfeld nuclear power plant .

The area was placed under protection by the authorities on 1990.
