The nature reserve valley slopes of the Lauer near Stadtlauringen is a nature reserve in the market town of Stadtlauringen in the Bavarian district of Schweinfurt .
history
The protected area was placed under protection by the authorities on 1992.
Geography and geology
The area is east of the Lauer , which it does not affect directly at any point, between Stadtlauringen and Oberlauringen . The NSG is divided into one larger and five other smaller areas that are not directly related. In addition to the eponymous slopes, mostly inclined towards Lauertal, the area includes a wide variety of landscape structures such as field hedges and semi-arid grassland. On the flatly sloping, less fertile areas of the Keuperterrasse, a leveling of the Acrodus-Corbula horizon (local field name: Scherscheäcker), there is a lot of open field with hedges and field trees. The formerly terraced vineyards have become orchards through subsequent use, the terraces are flattened.
The area is made accessible by an 11.5 kilometer long “nature reserve”, which is laid out as a circular route and begins at the market square in Stadtlauringen. The path leads in large areas along the edge of the slope and in parts is only laid out as an unpaved meadow path, to the east the path then runs through the valley of the Mailesbach back to Stadtlauringen. If the view is appropriate, the path offers panoramic views of Stadtlauringen, the Hesselbacher Waldland , Platzer Kuppe and Kreuzberg , Bramberg as well as Oberlauringen, Mailes and the Bramberg ruins .
Flora and fauna
Over 50 different species of songbirds and a large number of butterfly and insect species live in the species-rich, hedged sage and oat meadows as well as semi -arid grasslands . Today fruit trees and vinegar roses grow on the meadows of former vineyards . The ongoing encroachment of the dry lawn is actively counteracted by regular clearing.
