Renningen Nature Theater
The Renningen Nature Theater is a registered non-profit association for the promotion of art and culture . The open-air theater is located on the outskirts of Renningen in an old quarry .
history
The Renningen Nature Theater evolved from the former association of “Wander- und Musikfreunde Edelweiß Renningen e. V. "(popularly called" Mandolin Club "). In the association founded in 1925, a theater group had existed since 1948, which rehearsed hall performances once or twice a year. On January 25, 1954, the board of directors decided to set up an open-air stage on the private property of some board members in the former quarry at Längenbühl. In the past, reed sandstone was quarried on the site and used to build houses in the surrounding towns and communities. Today's auditorium is located on the quarry's spoil dump. The “Operation Natural Theater” was so busy with the members of the association that there was no time left for playing mandolin or hiking. Therefore the association gave itself a new statute and a new name. On June 28, 1954, the Renningen Nature Theater had its first premiere with the play "Die Orgelmacher". A total of 40 actors took part.
investment
The Renningen Nature Theater is located near the federal highway 295 Leonberg - Renningen - Weil der Stadt. The exit is signposted on the B295. From the parking lot you can walk the last stretch to the forest clearing - it offers the unique natural backdrop for the performances. The club still has a “real” natural stage, neither the 35 m wide and 15 m deep stage nor the auditorium have a roof. The auditorium has 748 numbered seats; With the help of emergency benches, a performance can accommodate up to 900 spectators. In 1989 the clubhouse was built to the right of the stage, followed in 2004 by the warehouse / technology house. Since the 2006 season, the members of the technical team have had the overview they need to control lighting, music and pyrotechnic effects. The warehouse / technology house was lavishly painted by two artists and has become a trademark for the Renningen Nature Theater.
The Union
The natural theater has around 170 members. All roles are played by amateur actors; professional directors ensure a sophisticated, perfect staging. Choreography, music, costume design, stage construction and set design are also done by professionals. The numerous tasks “behind the scenes” are taken over by club members and other helpers.
The productions
The program is aimed at both children and adults. Two plays are staged annually, which are then performed in the summer months from the end of June to the end of August. Every year around 10,000 theater fans attend the performances; 24–26 performances take place per season. For adults, plays and plays that are known or written by the directors and adapted to the stage are performed; the sophisticated productions always contain a statement, whereby humor and wit are not neglected. Classic fairy tales such as “Rapunzel”, “Tischlein deck dich”, “Aladin and the magic lamp”, “Puss in Boots” or more modern pieces such as B. "The Little Witch", "Treasure Island", "The Jungle Book" etc.
Promotion of the player
Workshops with the professional directors are offered for the ensembles; In the winter months when there are no games, there are professional acting classes. Child and youth work is an important part of the association. For many years there has been a group of kids and young people who play as a "gang" for the children's play. B. the fairies at "Sleeping Beauty", the children of a poor house at "Puss in Boots", the accompanying chickens at the "Bremen Town Musicians", the pirates at the "Treasure Island" etc. The kids and young people can first try out the theater and get to know the theater business. After a few active seasons, many grow into larger roles, take on responsibility with speaking roles and / or internal theater functions.
Fairytale forest
Since the 2006 season, the Renningen Nature Theater has been using a new warehouse / technology building. Already during the planning and construction phase the idea arose to adapt its outer walls to the surroundings with an artistic facade painting and for this purpose the backdrop painters Jochen Stahl and Silvia Carboni developed a concept under the motto “Theater in the fairy tale forest”. They were inspired by the location of the Renningen Nature Theater in the middle of a forest clearing: archetypal characters from the world of theater and fairy tales are to enliven the facade of the warehouse and technology building in a timeless manner. Fairy tale motifs (representing children's plays) and theatrical motifs (representing evening plays) were painted in medallions of different sizes. The medallions are entwined with vine leaves that grow from cornucopia. On February 28, 2008, the artwork was presented to the press and sponsors.
