Enter Negatiiv OG

Negatiiv OG was born in Hildesheim in 1996 under the real name Félix Gómez. At the age of eight he moved with his mother to live with his grandparents. He later moved to Braunschweig . Musically he was initially shaped by ASAP Rocky , whose release Live. Love. A $ AP he describes as "one of the best tapes ever". From 2013 he mainly heard Chief Keef and Juicy J , of whom he himself had a lot in his "lyrical nastiness". He also heard numerous trap musicians from the United States such as Rich the Kid , Young Thug , Smokepurpp , Lil Uzi Vert , Migos , Playboi Carti , Young Dolph and Lil Baby .

After rapping freestyles to beats with a friend, the idea arose to write lyrics, buy equipment and record his first songs. For this he set up his own studio. He also learned to mix his recordings by himself . As a pseudonym for his musical activity, Gómez chose Negatiiv OG, which he had used in the computer game Call of Duty when he was at school . At the end of 2016, the EP Trap Made Me was released on SoundCloud . In February 2017 he released his now-deleted debut single Lifestyle . This was followed by the video What money can't buy and the single Checkmate . The tape Been 'Trappin' was released in summer, featuring Sin Davis and Sevi Rin as guests. Flex Up was released shortly before the turn of the year . In the spring he followed up with the 2 milligram EP and the tape pipe up .

In August 2018, Negatiiv OG published Blaues Blut , with which he first received more attention. Especially the single Goldrausch received attention. In about a year, the song reached over two million Spotify streams and 1.2 million views on YouTube , making it its most successful release. Together with Sin Davis, Skeeniboi, SLAX, Benuebermensch and Sevi Rin, he founded the Checkmate collective in September. From then on they organized the series of events “Captured in 38” in Braunschweig. In 2019 the tape Schlechtes Karma and the EP Tragic were released . In autumn he first appeared with Checkmate at the Hype Festival and then completed the “Captured in…” tour through nine cities.

At the beginning of 2020, Negatiiv OG signed a contract with the Universal Music Group together with Checkmate . With a volume of 900,000 euros, it is said to be the most highly endowed contract for a newcomer that has ever existed in Germany. His planned solo tour had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic .

reception

The e-zine laut.de sees Negatiiv OG as a “little German Juicy J ”. While on his debut Trap Made Me he blasphemed "still with a shitty Master P cover blend about rappers with French influences", from now on he has continuously focused on making the "Amirap sound", which he is "as close to the original as possible ”into German. With the tapes Been Trappin ' , Flex Up and Pipe Up , the rapper has built up “a solid fan base” that understands “his mission”. With blue blood , his aesthetics became more secure. He also added “more Gunna , more Shoreline Mafia, more Rich Forever to the textures” of his sound. The US website Empireextreme.com sees him alongside Edo Saiya , Lyran Dasz and Laer Xirtam as "a pioneer of the sad rap wave in Germany."

On the occasion of the publication of Goldrausch , Szene38 dealt with the musician. Negative OG quote and celebrate "the obscure lifestyle and hip sound" of the trap. In this way he translates the “attitude to life of a suspended, often self-destructive black youth” into German. In Gold Rush , there were a abysmal "Sex'n'Drugs trip deep down into the dark heart of the night." He would prove to be "Braunschweig versautester and provokantester rapper." Noizz.de showed him more critical. "Exciting artists of the new generation" such as OG Keemo , Finch Asozial or Bausa run through their texts with "disgusting lines that despise women." In doing so, they reproduce the "same discriminatory texts" as the old rappers.

At the end of 2019, Negatiiv OG had a say in a report by Bremen Next about the fashion drug Xanax . The rapper's attitude led to criticism. In spring 2020, he explained that the interview was done at the beginning of 2019 and that both his opinion and personal consumption behavior about the drug have changed in the meantime.
