Nespereira is a municipality ( freguesia ) in the Portuguese district of Lousada . It has 2083 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).

history

The first written mention of the place comes from the year 1082 . In the royal surveys of 1258 Nespereira was already recorded as a municipality in the Lousada district.

At the end of the 18th century, the first small businesses in the textile industry, metal processing plants and carpenters were established here. In 1913 , a narrow-gauge railway from Penafiel to Lixa was opened. a. should establish the connection to the Linha do Tâmega . Since then, the community has taken off, although the railway line went bankrupt after 1920 and was dissolved. Despite some industrial and trading companies, agriculture is still the most important economic factor in the municipality, especially the cultivation of wheat and wine.
