About this picture
Location of Döbris in Zeitz

Until June 30, 2009, Döbris was a municipality in the Burgenland district in Saxony-Anhalt and ultimately consisted only of the Neu-Pirkau district, which was newly created from 1948 to 1950 . The town of Döbris itself had to give way to the Pirkau opencast mine .

history

During the Second World War , several hundred prisoners of war as well as women and men from the countries occupied by Germany had to do forced labor in the Riebeck Group . In 1966, a memorial was set up in the Pirkau opencast mine to commemorate 79 victims of forced labor .

In 1945 the neighboring town of Schwerzau was incorporated. The village of Döbris, district of Hohenmölsen , which gave the municipality its name , was dissolved in 1967 and its location was dredged by the advancing opencast mine Pirkau of the former lignite combine 'Erich Weinert' Deuben . Schwerzau was relocated in 1994 and dredged in 1995 by the Profen opencast mine .

Together with Geußnitz , Kayna , Nonnewitz and Würchwitz , Döbris was incorporated into the city of Zeitz on July 1, 2009 . The last mayor of Döbris was Roland Meuche.
